Clarence Mark

Clarence Mark Lodge had their regular meeting on Monday evening and were delighted to welcome W.Bro. Eric Drinkwater, Special Representative to their Lodge.  Not having a candidate W.Bro. David Jones, Past Master, gave an interesting lecture "From Stonemason to Freemason".  This was well received and follows two earlier lectures given in previous years by David - namely "Masonic Postage Stamps" and "Famous People Who Have Been Freemasons" [from Kings to Cowboys!].

W Bro David Jones P.M.,                                         Bro Michael Mansfield-Corbett W.M.,                      Bro Arthur Cain (our newest member )   W.Bro Alan Hughes,JP,Secretary                      W.Bro Barry Thornley D.C. .

During the course of his lecture  David mentioned, that as a British Rail engineer, he had a lot to do with the rebuilding of the Britannia Railway Bridge, after the fire a number of years ago.  Unfortunately he was not a Mark Mason at the time, or he could have put his mark on the construction!  I mentioned that only last week we had had a Team Visit to Southport Mark Lodge, where Tony Baker is a member.  As a working mason at Liverpool Cathedral, he had his "mark" before he joined the Mark Degree and it was not necessary for him to chose one in the ceremony!

The brethren were disappointed that W.Bro.Bill Frost, T.D. the IPM and their Treasurer, could not be with them because of his medical treatment.  We all send our best wishes to Bill.

Report submitted by Bro. Peter Connolly - who requests that brethren submit reports of their "ordinary" meetings; and apologises for the poor quality of the photographs.
